UNDER-15S FRIENDLY: Glasgow Girls 2-0 Hamilton Accies

21st February 2015, Budhill

Thanks to Billy McCann for the report.

TEAM

Catherine

Eve Emma Jai Emily Karen

Bethany Teigan Morgan Rhegan

Emma R Lucy F

Subs: Samantha (GK), Isla & Lucy H

The park was a bit frosty in parts but not enough to cancel the game. Apart from the keepers we have another couple of new team members getting their debut today, Bethany and Isla.

First Half:  Short and sweet this week due to the park being a bit heavy and the girls not used to playing

on grass.

Coaches Stuart and Paddy are still getting to grips with their new line up and the best positions for the girls.

Emma Jai slipped in to the centre back with Emily, with Eve at right back and Karen and left back.

This proved to be a solid back four with Emily outstanding as usual and Emma Jai's fantastic attitude, support and encouraging the team.

The first half was very scrappy and Glasgow Girls dominated due to Accies trying to do their normal passing game, but found it difficult because of the pitch.

On 30 minutes subs Lucy H and Isla came on for Lucy F and Bethany.

Due to a lack of concentration at the back (first time in the game) GG got gifted a goal in the 37th minute.

Second Half:  Samantha on for Catherine.

Second half started much like the first, still a bit scrappy and most of the game in the middle of the park.

15 minutes into the half Emma and Rheagan subbed by Lucy F and Bethany.

Second lapse of concentration and GG scored again.

Accies started finally got used to the grass and began putting pressure on GG with a couple of good shots on target.

Teigan and Morgan was subbed by Emma and Rhegan.

Accies piled on the pressure and should have had at least a couple of goals, especially on the 32nd minute when there was a goal mouth scuffle. The ball was over the line, however, due the goals not being battened down. physically moved six inches, no goal given.

Accies kept up the hard work right up to the last minute.

Conclusion:  Accies not used to playing on a heavy grass park, took their time to settle down and came into their own in the second half. Nothing between the teams on the day except their keeper who played a blinder.

The girls were definitely due a couple of goals, however, the overall performance and attitude was excellent.

Emily was the player of the match and Emma Jai not far behind her.

It will take time for the team to get use to each other and another few games under their belts I am sure they develop into a strong team.
