Just one goal seperated Accies and Stirling Uni after an afternoon full of Scottish Cup drama saw Hamilton fall out of the competition.
Stirling's Beth McKay, Nicole Pullar and Emma Lyons bettered efforts from Megan Quinn, Gillian Inglis and Jacqui Seagrave to book their third round place.
Manager Gary Doctor couldn't fault his side's efforts though with the gane going right down to the wire.
Accies started brightly, connecting with the post twice and the crossbar, before the Uni side broke away forcing Demi Wardrop into a diving header to clear it out.
After quarter of an hour Stirling found net first against the run of play, McKay straight from the corner, before doubling the lead twelve later, capitalising on a mistake deep in their own half to press on and allow Pullar to finish after a mixup with Elaine Fleming.
Hamilton pulled one back ahead of the break though from the edge of the Stirling area, with Inglis dummying the freekick to let Quinn float her left footed strike over the wall and beyond the keeper.
Seven minutes into the second period, Accies stole an equaliser, after a scuffle on the goal line was cleared away, the visitors conceded a penalty through handball, leaving Inglis to slot away a neatly from the spot.
Within ten minutes though, the Uni retook their lead, as McKay tapped in her second connecting with Jade Gallon's long corner.
It went from bad to worse for Accies a couple later as the referee ruled Fleming to have brought down Pullar inside the box and pointed to the spot, and Lyons made it 4.
Seagrave gave Accies the boost they needed with five to go knocking in a third from close range on the end of a Quinn corner, and Hamilton pushed for the equaliser.
The hosts were forced to see out the extra time with just ten after Kim Black went off with a suspected broken nose, but the stoppage was too short for Accies  to force extra time, and Stirling progressed to the third round.
